- Gene therapy for cancer and other diseases is currently of high interest. Current gene therapy are limited by:
- a). Inability to turn the gene therapy on and off without side effects on the patient.
- b). Inability to target the gene therapy to specific cells.
- Solution. We have therefore developed and patented a tightly regulated gene therapy system that can activate a gene therapy payload at a single cell level.
Preventing Heart Toxicity
- The most commonly used chemotherapies have the side effect of heart damage.
- Some 25% of children undergoing bone marrow transplantation for acute leukemia will have severe heart damage or die from the side effects of therapy.
- No current effective prevention therapy exists.
- Solution.LightSeed has identified a pipeline of drugs that provide cardioprotection from chemotherapy induced damage to human cardiac cells.
- Preclinical studies have demonstrated dramatic protection of the heart from chemotherapy-induced heart damage and heart failure.
- LightSeed's pipeline also inhibit cancer cell growth.
